The Library holds a collection of about 55000 documents and subscribes to about 88 academic journals . The library has also a collection of Microfische , CD-ROMs and Cassettes. A number of news magazines and dailies are also available for browsing. Bound Volumes of THE HINDU Newspaper from 1958 onwards, bound volumes of THE TIME, THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and other academic journals attract researchers & general public as well. On an average about 40000 books and about 25000 periodicals are issued every year, the references inside the library notwithstanding. The library is open to all members of the staff and students of the college and the users have direct access to the shelves in the stack room and reading hall. The classification system used is Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and follows the Anglo American Cataloging Rules (AACR-11) A data base of computerized catalog of books, INTERNET and e -Mail services are made use of by students and staff of the college.
A Career Corner functions in the library with the aim of providing useful hints in Career / Course Selection , Personality Development, Communication Skills etc. It organises seminars, discussions and provides relevant information regarding employment opportunities. The Career Corner has a splendid collection of career books and career journals. The cell acts as a reference point for students preparing for the Competitive Examination like IAS , Bank Tests , UPSC Tests , UGC/ CSIR, TOEFL, GRE etc.
The Library has undertook research projects on development of libraries in the area and also offers consultancy services in the regard. It has installed an Internet connectivity for the establishment of UGC- Network Resource Centre. (UGC-NRC).
LIBRARY RULES.

Students should surrender their Identity Cards at the counter before entering the library.

Private books and personal belongings of students are to be kept at the entrance before entering the library.

Books and journals will not be issued out of the library from the Reference Section. Students are also not allowed to take away periodicals from the Reading Room.

Students have the privilege of direct access to the shelves in the stack-room and reading hall. Books taken out of the shelves for reference may be left on the nearest table and the classified arrangement of books on the shelves according to numbers should not be disturbed.

Students should submit an application in the prescribed form supplied from the library for issue of library cards to them.

The card system (Browne System) is followed for borrowal of books in the library. Degree students are given three library cards and PG students are given six cards. Books will be lent only on exchange of these cards.

No student shall lend a library book. Exchange of library cards are also not allowed.

Students shall be responsible for the books borrowed on the exchange of cards issued to them. Books lost / damaged should be reported to the librarian and replaced if the same is available for procurement. In other cases, the cost will be recovered as per Govt. rules. Marks made in a book and dog-earing of pages will be considered as damage.

Students/Staff should verify that the books are not damaged before they borrow it. They will be asked to pay for the books returned in a damaged/mutilated condition.

If a card is lost, a fresh card will be issued on payment of Rs.20/. The cards should be returned when students leave the college.

Students may borrow books from the library on all working days, and it shall be returned within a fortnight.

A book can be taken out again after it is presented to the library, if there has been no other reservation for it in the meanwhile.

A fine of Rs. 1 /- per day on each book will be levied in the case of books not returned on the due date from the defaulters. The same rate will be charged for book borrowed for overnight reference. (As per G.O. (MS) No.66/2003/H.Edn.- dated 15/1/2002).

Books taken out of the library may be recalled at any time. Those who fail to return the books when called for, will be subject to the usual fine.

As the library is a place of individual study, students should so conduct themselves inside the library so as to maintain an atmosphere conducive to this. Strict silence should be observed in the Reading Room. A fine of Rs.10/- will be levied for breach of this rule.

All the members of the staff and students are expected to return all the books they have borrowed from the library before the date specified by the Principal for the annual physical stock verification. Books will not be issued when the stock - taking is on.

No teacher will be allowed to keep more than 10 books at a time (As per circular No. G3/32044/04/coll.Edn. dtd 13/10/2004).

Subject books will be lent only to the teachers who teach respective subjects.

Heads of Departments may be issued up to 30 books in their respective subjects. Those books are to be kept in their departments for reference.

Hall Tickets, Transfer Certificates etc. will be issued only after students clear all their dues in the library.
